Porsche enthusiasts might call it an unwarranted move, but the German manufacturer does it with great conviction when it gets ready to roll out the first 4-door sports car sedan from its stable in October - the 2010 Porsche Panamera. However, the automaker is no stranger to such pessimism as it has had faced a similar situation while launching the sports utility vehicle Porsche Cayenne. Though Porsche has employed a different design language, the new 2010 Panamera retains the typical Porsche look from all angles.

The front engine Panamera will be available in three trim levels and is powered by 4.8-liter V-8 engine. Though the base model is a rear wheel drive the high-end versions come with standard all-wheel drive. While the powertrain delivers 400 hp for Panamera S (base model) and Panamera 4S, the top of range Panamera Turbo gives 500 hp. According to the Motor Trend magazine, the entry level car Panamera S is priced at $89,800 and the top end versions carry a price tag of $93,800 and $132,600 respectively.

Although the Panamera S is available in Europe with a conventional six speed manual, all U.S.-spec Panameras will come standard with Porsche's new seven-speed PDK dual clutch manual transmission.
